Students from low-income backgrounds often enter school with a vocabulary less than one third the size of their more privileged peers! LearnThatWord provides targeted and differentiated remediation to help teachers and students close that gap. Your Title I third graders may also qualify for scholarships from LearnThatWord's Scholarship Pledge.

Significance of Spelling

Orthography is a hallmark of a good education, and people with low spelling skills are stigmatized. Spelling carries significant weight in
       - No-Child-Left-Behind (NCLB) tests,
       - SAT's handwritten essays,
       - English composition requirements in college,
       - a myriad of everyday situations.

Words are the building blocks of literacy. Reading, writing and spelling are related processes.
When vocabulary skill and confidence are low, student's academic progress is in danger.

Our program is included in the Department of Education's Educational Resource Organizations Directory (EROD) and listed as a compliant resource by the California Learning Resource Network (CLRN). The organization was initiated by the CA Department of Education and is referenced nationwide by schools looking for appropriate and standards based online instruction.

CLRN provides educators with a "one-stop" resource to help with the selection of supplemental electronic learning resources aligned to the State Board of Education's academic content standards.

California educators with specific content experience are selected through an application process to act as reviewers once they have completed a rigorous training program.
The review process utilizes the State Board of Education approved review criteria which covers three areas: Legal Compliance, Standards Alignment & Minimum Requirements.
