LEARN MORE

Knock, knock... who's there? Students who want to learn!

eSpindle Learning maintains scholarship partnerships with many literacy programs, Title 1 schools, after school programs, and Boys & Girls Clubs. Please read on for some examples.

If you are an organization and need our support to make this program available to your audience, please click here. Please note, however, that although we try to accommodate as many organizations as possible, there currently is a waiting list.

Helms Middle School

Located in Richmond, CA, Helms Middle school is a Title1 school: Over 90 percent of students qualify for free lunch.
Most students speak a language other than English at home, and many have only basic or less than basic language skills.

Helms' principal, Harriet McLean says "The students are very sweet but we have a lot of work to do because they don't come from homes where they are prepared for school the way the middle class prepares their children for school."

eSpindle Learning is providing free licenses to all students to help them take a leap ahead.
Rewards wait for students who study the largest number of words via www.eSpindle.org.
Many students Students also participated in the Helms-exclusive online Spelling Bee, facilitated via eSpindle's technology.

"The best programs are the ones that provide instant feedback and review," says librarian Marilyn Jaquith, who assists students with using the school's computer resources.
"Programs like eSpindle are very effective. Students love to know where they're at and what exactly they need to do to improve."
"Students who don't know how to read and write can't go anywhere academically," says Ricardo Valenzuela, who has been one of the pioneers introducing eSpindle to his students.

Teachers enjoy delegating time intensive spelling word lists to the program.
They now only review the performance reports and can rest assured that eSpindle will provide customized tutoring until words are reliably anchored in long-term memory, regardless of whether that requires three or  99 repetitions.

Los Angeles Unified School District

In a concentrated effort, eSpindle Learning donated 1,400 scholarship licenses to four elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to enhance instruction.

Students will have access to free vocabulary and spelling coaching for 5 years. Delegating the practice component of vocabulary instruction to eSpindle frees up valuable time teachers can use for other activities in the classroom.

Goodwill Industries of Silicon Valley

eSpindle has been used in the after school program of Goodwill Industries of Silicon Valley to help underserved high school students prepare for  the exit exam.

In the evaluation report following the initial introductory period, all students remarked on how easy it was to use the web site and how easy it was to understand instructions.

They also emphasized how useful using eSpindle has been to raise their vocabulary skill and improve their confidence both reading and writing.

Individual requests for eSpindle scholarships

If you are an US student in need of a scholarship, please click here.

eSpindle Learning receives scholarship requests from all over the world, but being an US nonprofit organization, we currently focus our energy on helping schools and other nonprofits within the USA.

Our bylaws include the commitment to match every paid membership with a scholarship for a disadvantaged student. Because of the large need, we are currently maintaining six scholarships per paid membership, but still, there is a waiting list.

Please help us help more students who want to learn! Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
