10 minutes ago, -1/+6i'm gonna get dugg down for this but who cares if the founding fathers would completely approve or disapprove. it's a completely new era. yes, the principles of humanity (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness) are important. they would completely disagree with the size and reach of the federal government. however, the civil war completely changed the dynamic of state-centered government, too. and even before that, to survive as a fledgling nation, we had to centralize more power within the federal government.
