So … man is an ape in that if you use “ape” to characterize that group of Anthropoidea that aren’t “monkeys” which are non-lemur, non-ape primates, but don’t form a natural group - i.e., share a common ancestor to the exclusion of apes and lemurs, but man isn’t an ape because apes are chimps and gorillas and.
