I do have some idea how difficult it is to accurately measure temperature with millidegree precision and it never ceases to amaze me how otherwise intelligent people think it’s possible to accurately and precisely extract a few millidegrees/year signal from a very noisy record even in the absence of significant systematic error, especially when there is no real standard reference method for comparison.
