2010 Word Cup Finalists
It was a fun season, and we enjoyed meeting so many of you during the tryout period!
Congratulations to this year's Champion of Champions, Deirde Johnson, UK (Age group 31-50 years).
Other first place winners were Ben Hartford, USA (Age group 51 years and over) and Sandy Obe, USA (Age group 14-30 years).
All first prize winners will receive an award and certificate, along with a lifetime LearnThatWord.org membership. Congratulations!
Second prize winners:
Age group 51 years and over: Joe Borg, Sweden
Age group 31-50 years: Julie Anders, USA
Age group 14-30 years: Meg Graham, Canada
These contestants will receive a certificate along with a 10-year membership ($598 value)
Third prize winners:
Age group 51 years and over: Sunil Adyanthaya, India
Age group 31-50 years: Ann Goldberg, USA
Age group 14-30 years: Sylvia Bach, USA
These contestants will receive a certificate along with a 3-year membership ($399.40 value)
Fourth to twelfth place winners will receive a certificate along with an annual LearnThatWord membership ($99.80 value), and have already been contacted via email.
Update
Although we had many thousand participants from all over the world, we decided to focus our resources on direct philanthropic efforts though our core program, www.LearnThatWord.org.
For the 2010/11 school year, for example, we launched Vocabulary Junction, making free vocabulary tutoring available to third graders throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The Word Cup event is on hold awaiting suitable sponsorship.
